Tony's solos are some of the most exciting and innovative that I have heard in a very long time.....Roy Ayers
Guitar led jazz/fusion
I played in and around Toronto for about 10 years before the desire to check out the scene and the life in Europe caused me to move to London, England. I arrived with a little (really) bit of money and a Fender Twin Reverb with external power transformer along with my Fender Stratocaster. I didn’t know anyone and went about the business of finding a room. A shared house with 13 people was acquired as well as a thorough knowledge of cheap but good restaurants. There was no way to get time in the tiny kitchen and frankly I didn't want to.
The music scene was lively, and I found a gig with a soul band. I also connected with some fusion guys and shortly after that, found a new room. At that time there were some great studios in town (which include home studios) and one of them asked me to come and make a record. In fact, I made 2 and then I just kept on going, recording whenever and wherever possible.
I’d simply write a chart (chords and a melody) and pay (not enough of course) for the best players I knew. Often the tunes would be recorded in a single take after a short run-through. Most of them are completely live but sometimes I overdubbed the solo after laying down the chords and the groove with the band.
Most of the music that I recorded is instrumental, but not all of it. The music presented here was recorded in London. Check it out!
I hope that you like it. Cheers. Tony
